What is risk training?
Riskettan and the skid pan — mandatory for the B licence
To take the driving test for a category B licence you must have completed both parts of the risk training: Risk 1 (Riskettan) and Risk 2 (the skid pan). Both have been mandatory since 2009.
Riskettan is a theoretical course about alcohol, drugs, fatigue and other risk behaviours in traffic. The skid pan is a practical course where you practise handling the car on slippery surfaces.

Do I have to do Riskettan and the skid pan?
Yes, since 2009 both parts are mandatory before you can take the driving test for a category B licence. Riskettan must be completed before the theory test and the skid pan before the driving test.
How much do they cost?
Riskettan costs from 600 kr and the skid pan from 2,100 kr. Trafikverket's test fees come on top of that.
How long does Riskettan take?
Riskettan is about 3 hours and is theoretical. The skid pan is 3.5 hours of practical training.
How long is the risk training valid?
Both parts are valid for 5 years from completion. If you do not pass your driving test within that time you have to redo the training.
